Personal and Pastoral Tutor

clock Remote, UK
map pin Permanant, Part-time

We are looking for a new part-time Personal and Pastoral Tutor to join our friendly and supportive law school team.
Brightlink is a values-based learning organisation with a mission to reduce inequalities in learning and careers. We believe education changes lives and we are passionate about helping people achieve goals they may once have thought were beyond their reach.

You will:
• Have a law degree and BPTC, LLM or LPC qualification or full CILEX qualification.
• Have a teaching qualification.
• Have experience with apprentices and apprenticeships.
• Be passionate about teaching and learning.
• Be positive, motivated, warm and nurturing.
• Have a private and professional space to work from.
• Be someone who cares deeply about people and actively lives strong values, including integrity.

We will:
• Support you in your work.
• Provide admin support.
• Provide preparation time.
• Offer a maximum rather than minimum workload to support your wellbeing.
• Offer development and progression opportunities.
• Offer a pension scheme.
• Pay a starting salary of £27,720 per annum for 21 hours per week (£46,200 full-time equivalent).
• Give you the opportunity to bring your own ideas, interests and projects to life with the support of our team and resources, helping to make a positive difference in people’s lives and communities.

Your responsibilities will include personal tuition and pastoral support for our learners, apprentices and future lawyers. You will meet with learners regularly, support them through challenges, celebrate their successes and advocate for their needs where appropriate.

You will design and facilitate inductions, one-to-one tutorials, small group sessions, study skills workshops and exam preparation activities. You will act as Personal Tutor, Learning Coach and Assessor for our Welsh and English apprentices and will support learners studying from Level 3 through to Level 7. You will also contribute to the development of learning resources and learner support materials.

This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people succeed and who believes that outstanding learner support can transform both educational outcomes and careers.
Most work is carried out from home, with opportunities to visit learners and clients in their workplaces and represent Brightlink at meetings and events. You will also deliver occasional in-person tutorials, workshops and learner events across England and Wales.

We operate a flexible working approach and trust our team to manage their workload professionally. However, because our learners rely heavily on their Personal Tutor, this role requires agreed core hours across five days each week, including at least one evening, so that learners and colleagues can rely on consistent support.

Interviews will take place via Zoom in the first instance, if successful in that stage of the process, you may be invited to an in person interview at the next stage.
This role is 21 hours per week across five days initially. There may be opportunities to increase hours in the future as the role develops.
We welcome applications from anyone who meets the qualifications and experience outlined above.
