This free online event is designed to make the CILEX route into law much clearer.

We will explain who CILEX are, how their qualifications work and the different ways people can use the CILEX route to build a professional career in law.

You don’t need any previous knowledge of CILEX to attend.

Do I need to go to university first?

Not necessarily.

One of the things that makes CILEX different is that there are routes for people starting without a law degree as well as routes that recognise previous legal study.

The CILEX Professional Qualification (CPQ) provides a staged route through legal study and professional development.

For eligible law graduates, the CILEX Graduate Qualification (CGQ) provides a graduate-entry route which recognises previous legal study.

We will explain both during the session.

Is a CILEX Lawyer a qualified lawyer?

Yes.

Becoming a CILEX Lawyer involves more than passing academic examinations. The route combines legal study with relevant legal experience and professional competence, and CILEx Regulation is responsible for the regulatory requirements and authorisation.

We will explain how the different elements fit together so that you can see the journey from starting your studies through to professional qualification and, where relevant, practice rights.

There is a lot of terminology around legal qualifications and careers, and it can be difficult to work out which information applies to you.

Our aim is to explain the CILEX route clearly so that you can make an informed decision about whether it is something you would like to explore further.

There will also be an opportunity to find out how people study CILEX qualifications through approved training providers such as Brightlink Learning and to ask questions about your own starting point.
