Who it is for: CPQ learners progressing through civil, criminal or family litigation pathways who need to understand the additional requirements associated with litigation practice rights.

What we cover: the core QE/WBL requirements; finding and understanding the correct CRL documents; how the litigation route differs; selecting and building suitable case evidence; the additional litigation portfolios; evidencing the required competencies; planning ahead with supervisors so learners actually get opportunities to generate the evidence they will need; and common problems that arise when people leave this too late. CRL’s current new-standards material requires a portfolio against six competencies plus five litigation cases for the litigation route.

The qualification and application process can involve several different stages, documents and requirements. It is not always easy to see how qualifying experience, work-based learning, litigation practice rights and advocacy fit together — or when you should start preparing for each part.

This practical online workshop is designed for CILEX CPQ learners who are considering or working towards litigation and advocacy rights and want a clearer understanding of the pathway ahead.

We will explore:

• how Qualifying Experience and Work-Based Learning fit into the wider qualification process
• finding and understanding the relevant pathway information and documentation
• preparing your evidence and thinking ahead about the experience you may need
• the relationship between litigation practice rights and advocacy rights
• certificates of eligibility and where they fit within the process
• the different advocacy options available
• questions to consider before deciding which advocacy route is right for you
• planning ahead so that you are not trying to resolve gaps in experience or evidence at the end of your qualification
• common areas of confusion and the questions learners frequently ask

There will also be time to discuss some of the practical issues learners encounter when preparing for this stage of qualification.

This is intended to be a practical preparation workshop rather than simply a presentation. We want you to leave with a clearer understanding of the pathway, the documents you need to be looking at and the areas you should be planning for now.
